Stokes has announced his retirement from ODI cricket on Monday, after which Kohli called the almighty athlete “the most competitive match” he has ever faced.
“Look, Virat is going to be one of the greatest players to play the game in all three formats. He’s a phenomenal player. And I’ve absolutely fallen in love every time I’ve played against one. people like him,” Stokes told Sky Sports.
“The energy and commitment he gives to the game is something I’ve always admired even before I started playing against him. When you play against guys like that, you know what that means. How for not only yourself but also for all the others have been lucky enough to play at the highest level.
“I’m sure we’ll have some other fights on the pitch. It’s nice to hear what he (Kohli) has to say,” Stokes said.
Kohli, who has up to 70 hundreds of international players, has not scored in a century since November 2019. He has struggled even during his recently concluded tour of England.
He has been laid to rest from the West Indies series starting July 22.
