AIIMS director bars unauthorized agents on hospital campus, shares Whatsapp number


AIIMS administration shared some WhatsApp and asked doctors and staff to use it to report the presence of unauthorized individuals from private facilities taking advantage of patients.

According to a circular issued on Friday by the Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Dr M Srinivas, security personnel should ensure that all such persons are assigned to police outposts. AIIMS to infiltrate and exploit patients.

It said that several unauthorized individuals belonging to several private companies were roaming the AIIMS campus seeking profits from patients visiting the campus.

The circular mentions that these trespassers are also facilitating OPD card issuance and AIIMS hospitalization while redirecting laboratory or radiological investigation patients to private facilities and adds that a some of these also sell drugs, disposable supplies, surgical supplies, and implantable devices.

“All doctors, nurses and staff are instructed that, even at the slightest suspicion of the presence of any unauthorized and unidentified person on campus or around departments, and campus area, immediately report it to WhatsApp on special number 9355023969”, the circular added while mentioning that information can also be shared confidentially to the director’s official email id , i.e. director@aiims.edu.

The circular adds a simple solution to the problem could be to wear a designated uniform and display an ID card while adding, “This will allow us to identify any unauthorized or unidentified individuals.” on campus… Additionally, staff working in the Opera House will have their names embroidered on their scrubs.”

“Dean deans are also required to ensure that all waitlists are attended to, which will prevent patients from falling into the traps of these actors and being financially exploited.
