Rapper A$AP Rocky was in custody in California in connection with a Hollywood shooting last year, authorities said.
The 33-year-old man, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.
He was detained at Los Angeles International Airport, where he was due to arrive on a private jet from Barbados, NBC News reported.
He went on vacation with his girlfriend, Rihanna, who is currently pregnant.
Mayers is wanted in connection with a shooting on November 6 last year after an argument escalated, authorities said.
Mayers allegedly fired a handgun at an acquaintance, who suffered minor injuries and later received medical treatment, police said.
Attorneys and company representatives Mayers RCA Records did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
A$AP Rocky is scheduled to support the Red Hot Chili Peppers on June 22 in Manchester, and he’s in the lineup for the London Wireless Festival in July.
He will also support Red Hot Chili Peppers in Germany later this year.
