21 awesome fuse combos in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
rocket, puppet
Combine the Zonai Missile gear with your shield and hold the ZL to take to the air, perfect for climbing steep slopes when there’s no one to help you climb. Yes, the burst of energy is relatively short, but it’s an equally wild ride.
You may want to lower your expectations for the shield surfing awesomeness of this Fuse combo. It doesn’t offer that much more speed and the short lifespan makes this a bit of a letdown.
bouncing bomb
If you want some stylish airtime, then why not incorporate a bomb into your shield? This could be a Flower Bomb, a Zonai Time Bomb, basically anything boom. Simply do a shield glide and watch Link fly into the sky unscathed.
Spring dance
Like the tip above, you can attach the Zonai Spring to your shield and switch to a surf stance to blast into the air. It may not be sent to you rather as high as a bomb, but it emits a compact sound.
excursion cart
What if Link has a skateboard? That’s the question everyone wants the right answer to, isn’t it? Well, now you can find out! If you Merge the Zonai Car with Link’s shield and then glide over the shield, you’ll be able to slice it for longer and on rougher terrain than usual. Completely tubular!
Crazy shopping cart
You can also use a standard stroller to create another skateboard-like effect. The problem here is that my cars aren’t usually available across Hyrule like Zonai Cars are, so Fuse isn’t always easy to put together on the go.
Also, the higher center of gravity doesn’t look as exciting as using the Zonai Cart and the style point is the most important thing to consider when going down hill.
Ice, Ice, Surf
To surf the shield even longer, try giving yourself an ice block (obtained by throwing an Ice Ball in the water), then slam it into your shield. The slippery nature of the material allows the Link to slide like no other when using the surf motion, and you can even wriggle back and forth to keep it in place longer.
Of course, this isn’t the most durable option available (stone has a nasty melting habit), but it sure will be fun when it does.
sleigh
Especially good in snowy conditions, combining Sled with Link’s shield is a neat way to make Hylian hilltop shots a little more interesting. Why not turn a standard shield into a shield snowboards?
Great
Try to shield the surf with the Zonai Fan combined with your shield and you won’t get the skateboard effect you expect (yes, you just fall).
Does it help you move around while you are using the paraglider? Ehh, also, we’re afraid.
Magic hot air balloon
If you still want to enjoy your Breath of the Wild days before all these fancy Zonai kits arrive, then you can always stick an Octo Balloon on your shield and press ZL to see the Link slowly fly into the air. Ah, simpler times…
Ore ore
Blocking with a gem that merges with your shield won’t do anything unusual on par, but if you wait for an enemy to swing a sword at you, the effect will be loud and clear.
Each gem has its own effect to supplement defense (Ruby generates fire, Topaz causes electrocution, etc.), so this is well worth playing around with to suit the situation.
Create space with springs
To create distance between you and oncoming enemies, combine the Spring Zonei device with your shield and watch them bounce back on impact. In addition to being reusable, this one also comes with a fun effect rowing sound as the enemy flies backwards – you are welcome.
Mirror, Mirror Over… Shield?
Zelda fans are no strangers to the Mirror Shield, but you can take it to the next level in Tears of the Kingdom by combining your shield with (you guessed it) a Mirror.
In addition to distracting any enemies by giving them a chance to get their hair done (ok, that doesn’t really happen), this combo reflects sunlight from above into your enemies’ eyes, temporarily. Blinds them and unleashes an attack.
